Hi everyone. In today’s episode we’re going to talk to my Aunt Sonia, who is a hairdresser and she’ll talk about her career working inside of a salon.

And that’s the first word I’d like to begin with.

So a salon is a location where you get your nails done possibly, where you get your toenails done possibly. But the most common thing to get done at a salon is your hair. And I emphasize "salon" because a lot of my students and some of my friends have said saloon which is kind of funny. I don’t normally like to laugh at anyone speaking a foreign language because obviously it takes a lot of effort to speak a foreign language and I would hate if someone ever laughed at me, but it is pretty funny when people say saloon instead of salon because a saloon is a bar in the Old West. And usually where they drink a lot of alcohol, there were a lot of cowboys and prostitutes usually. And so it’s kind of funny when people say oh, I’m going to the saloon because I just imagine them sitting around cowboys, that’s the first thought that comes to my mind. So salon, let’s go to the salon and, yeah, let’s talk to my Aunt Sonia. Hope you enjoy!
